Goodbye, Hello

Midnight

Just after the new year, we awoke to something that changed our family. Our beloved hamster Rocket had passed away during the night. Like many people, our pets are not just pets but are family; our pets are even more than that. They are the faces of our Bubbles & Squeak brand. Although Bubble Puppy and Rosie are primary, Rocket was becoming the face for our Carrot and Apple treat to show that our products are for all types of pets.

When we broke the news to our granddaughter, she was brokenhearted as expected and after many tears we buried our little furball. To help offset the grief of losing Rocket, we made the decision to let her get a guinea pig, an animal she has wanted for a long time, and we explained that this new pet was not replacing Rocket, because you cannot replace family, you say goodbye but you can open your heart to say hello to a new family member. This is exactly what we did when went and picked up our new little floof, Midnight.

When we got to the store and saw the little piggies, Midnight stood out as she was the only black guinea pig they had. The rest were the Teddy breed that is brown and white. When we saw she has two white feet, one in front and one on the opposite side in back, her cuteness level just went up even more. She was the piggy for us and found herself in a little transport box heading to her new hom

Rocket

As we said hello to Midnight and welcomed her into the family, helping her get acclimated to her new surroundings, the love for Rocket and the pain of his loss was still lingering and as I had taken numerous pictures of Midnight, there were still photos and videos of Rocket on my phone as I had just done a tribute video of him. Our granddaughter told me she didn't want to see them because she didn't want to start crying again and asked her grandpa to be sure to go out and check on Rocket where he is buried. She is learning to balance happiness and sorrow and for a seven-year-old, that is not an easy feat.

With each passing day, Midnight's confidence and familiarity are growing and we've done some cute videos of her from templates on CapCut and shared them across our social media pages. One in particular has taken off on TikTok and at the time of this writing has 22K views. Something we never thought would happen. Because of her quick popularity, we have designed a stand-alone Instagram account for Midnight so that we don't bog down our business pages with fun, cute videos but can try to keep them more product related. She can be found under the username Midnite Pig. We are looking at creating a stand-alone account for Bubble Puppy and Rosie as well and will keep everyone up to date as soon as it is up and running.

As Midnight has eagerly shown her enjoyment of our Carrot and Apple treats, she will become the face of that particular treat along with Bubble Puppy and Rosie and we look forward to the wonderful times we are going to have with her as she fully integrates into our family.
